Professional Faculty - EdD in K-12 Educational Leadership
Dr. Sarah Varga is a lecturer in the Department of Communication at Baylor University teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in interpersonal, nonverbal, and professional communication. From a young age, Dr. Varga has viewed teachers as heroes and aspires to continually respond to her God-given desire to teach with joy and excellence. She considers it an absolute honor to partner with the Educational Leadership Program.
Dr. Varga is dedicated to the success of her students in and out of the classroom and is grateful to have the opportunity to develop others as communicators professionally and personally. Following her Bachelor’s in Theatre Arts from Texas A&M University, Dr. Varga had the opportunity to serve as a K–12 substitute and full-time middle school and high school teacher at an inner-city private Christian school in her hometown of San Antonio. She made the move to higher education by first pursuing her M.A. in Communication Studies from Baylor University, where she began teaching in 2015, and then earning her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
In addition to university teaching, Dr. Varga is a regular communication coach and consultant. She works closely with MBA students and professionals at all stages of their careers on anything from interpersonal communication skills to presentational effectiveness. Dr. Varga credits her unique understanding and appreciation for education to her range of teaching and coaching experiences. When not on campus, Dr. Varga is likely with her husband, Josef, and their four children volunteering at their church or kids’ school, or enjoying food, reading, making music, or being outdoors.
