Dr. Jim Vaszauskas enjoyed a 39-year career in public education and served as an English teacher, coach, principal, curriculum and instruction administrator, and superintendent. Dr. Vaszauskas retired from public education in 2019 and entered the private sector as a strategic relations consultant for Huckabee Architects.
Dr. V’s service to public education included 20 years as an English teacher and 19 years as an administrator where he was known for his focus on teaching and learning. As superintendent of Mansfield ISD, he led the 35,00-student district to consecutive A ratings by the Texas Education Agency.
In 2021, Dr. V. was appointed as a Texas Education Agency conservator for Marlin ISD. In two short years, Marlin ISD, a district that was nearly closed for poor academic performance, moved to a high B rating and earned passing scores for the first time in more than a decade.
In his work with Huckabee Architects, Dr. Vaszauskas brings expertise in client service and educational design and provides guidance and mentorship to the Huckabee team. He is highly active in advocacy efforts for public education and supports districts with strategic planning, academic planning, and leadership.
